We begin as love! A look, the touch of a hand, we are carried out, brought on through a relationship, whether it be loving or harsh, whether it be sad or happy, we are our parents love and hate, the result of togetherness. We begin with the rocking motion of the man diving into the woman, the deep thrusts of human instinct bringing us to life, we swim as 1 million mad little fish towards a glowing sun, we pierce the surface, swim together, all inside of her, the woman and our vessel. We develop inside the small cave of her, resting our heads on flesh that will never see sun, we touch the very skin of her soul, we eat her food and drink her love, and then after 9 months we are pushed out to begin our journey of separation, we are pushed away from each other.
We die without warning, not like birth, it can come any time and oh so suddenly. It is so opposite of birth, it is the very epitome of alone. We die with only our thoughts, with only our memories that we’ve made.
All our lives we will reach out for human contact, for connection, we will try to fill the void. We will reach out but in the end it will be only me, floating in this sea of memories.
